What it does

Stores each record as an encrypted envelope in IndexedDB. IndexedDB quota is typically 50–80% of available disk, far beyond what localStorage's ~5 MB cap allows, making it the default choice for browser-hosted vaults.

Notes

  • casAtomic: true — check and write happen inside a single readwrite IDB transaction per put, so writes from two tabs cannot interleave.
  • Record shape, one envelope per record.
  • Optional key obfuscation. Factory: toBrowserIdb(options?: BrowserIdbOptions).
